Erosion Control
Erosion is the geological process in which earthen materials are worn away and transported by natural forces such as wind or water. Erosion takes material from one location on the Earth's crust and then transports it to another location where it is deposited. Constantly changing water levels around Kerr Lake and Lake Gaston create erosion around both lakes shorelines. This gradually removes soil from the shoreline. These forms of rapid shoreline erosion present severe problems for property owners and the environment.

Installing a shoreline protection system with riprap rocks helps prevent anymore erosion around the lakes shoreline.

Riprap rocks help hold the dirt from anymore washing away.
